Gautam Gambhir is all set to take command as head coach of Team India from Rahul Dravid following India’s thrilling victory in the T20 World Cup 2024.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah recently made this official announcement on X, formerly known as Twitter. Gambhir’s first outing with the team is reportedly expected to be a white-ball tour of Sri Lanka, comprising of three ODIs and three T20Is later this month.

After officially assuming the role on Tuesday, the two-time World Cup champion expressed his excitement over this development on social media.

According to Cricbuzz, Gautam Gambhir is looking forward to working with VVS Laxman, who is currently serving as the interim coach on India's T20I tour in Zimbabwe. Following the Zimbabwe tour, India will play three T20Is and three ODIs against Sri Lanka, making it Gambhir’s first assignment as head coach.
